Saracura Vai-Vai

Location

São Paulo, BR

Year

2025

This work proposes the creation of an archaeological garden-museum as a tool for preserving the overlapping collective memories that make up the urban fabric.

Inserted in this context is the territory of Bixiga, which takes shape along the course of the Saracura Creek. Where there is water, there is life - and where there is life, cultural manifestations emerge.
Starting from the premise that architecture is music, the project develops a narrative journey through the Quilombo’s ruins, revealing the formation of a cultural mosaic in the territory.
Afro-Brazilian vernacular architecture is understood here as rhythm and a form of resistance, just like samba.

Therefore, it is proposed an attentive listening to the territory, where ruin and rhythm intertwine as a form of symbolic permanence in the face of historical erasure.
